Ewan McGregor was feeling the force with his family.
The Star Wars actor made a rare public outing with his children, as well as wife Mary Elizabeth Winstead, as he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Sept. 12.
"I just want to thank all of you for coming today," Ewan began as he accepted his star. "I had absolutely no idea what it would feel like or what it would mean, but it means a great deal and it feels very, very nice and very touched by the whole thing."
The 53-year-old also gave several shoutouts to his family, including daughters Clara, 28, Jamyan, 23, Esther, 22, and Anouk, 13—who he shares with ex-wife Eve Mavrakis—as well as 3-year-old son Laurie, who he shares with Mary.
And while Esther couldn't be there to celebrate her dad's big day because she was filming We Were Liars, Ewan explained that he's proud of both her and his eldest Clara for following in his acting footsteps. In fact, he had the chance to visit Esther and watching "her passion and enthusiasm for this thing we do" re-inspired his own love for acting.
"I was very lucky to work with my daughter Clara on a movie called Bleeding Love," he continued. "Had a better title before but some less creative people changed it."
The Moulin Rouge actor added that it was a privilege to "play Clara's dad and be Clara's dad at the same time."
And while his youngest daughter isn't pursuing acting just yet, Ewan joked that Anouk is "an amazing human being."
"I don't know what you're going to be," he said, "but we'll find out."
And when it comes to his "beautiful daughter Jamyan," Ewan noted he wouldn't be costarring with her because she's planning on being a homicide detective.
"She is cutting her own path," he shared, "and we're so proud of you, Jamyan, for everything you're doing and for the things that you're going to do with your life."
And of course, he also gushed about his wife of two years, calling Mary his "favorite actress in the world."
Finally, Ewan gave a special nod to his son while onstage. "My little boy, Laurie down here," he said as he waved to his son. "This is Laurie McGregor. Do you want to say hello to everybody?"
Ewan and Mary—who recently starred together in the miniseries A Gentleman in Moscow—have joked that their son has no choice but to be a Star Wars fan, as his dad famously played young Obi-Wan Kenobi in the saga, while his mom starred in the 2023 show Ahsoka.
"Our little boy he just doesn't stand a chance, does he?" Ewan quipped alongside his wife on SiriusXM's The Jess Cagle Show in March. "With the Star Wars connection."
The couple also shared that they'd tried to introduce Laurie to the actual puppet of the character Grogu from The Mandalorian, which did not go as planned, despite the little one having been a fan of the stuffed version he had at home.
"He freaked out," Ewan recalled, "like totally lost his s--t. In a bad way, he just was terrified."
