Kasie Hunt just experienced a different kind of breaking news.
The CNN anchor and husband Matthew Mario Rivera have welcomed their second child together, Grey Hunt Rivera. And as the couple revealed, their newborn daughter made quite an entrance into the world.
"Grey was born at home, early Wednesday morning, after 13 minutes of sudden labor—before there was even time to call the paramedics," Kasie and Matthew shared in a March 3 statement to People. "We were expecting her to arrive via a scheduled C-section on Thursday morning. She had other plans!"
As for how Matthew reacted to the emergency? He went into full on dad mode.
"Dad sprang into action and delivered baby Grey on the bathroom floor," the statement continued, with the pair joking that "Grey is already showing us her independent streak."
Matthew and Kasie, who are also parents to son Mars Hunt, 3, noted that he "can't stop talking about his new baby sister."
Kasie, 37, further reflected on the eventful experience on her Instagram Stories March 3, sharing an image of herself and Grey on the bathroom floor.
Expressing her gratitude for the emergency services responders, she wrote that her family was "lucky enough to have your calm and expertise on the other end of the line while your colleagues rushed to our aid and kept mom and baby safe and healthy."
And for those wondering, Kasie and baby Grey made it to the hospital eventually. In a follow-up post to her Instagram Stories, the journalist shared a photo of herself with Matthew and their newborn in the hospital, writing "We love you so much Grey."
As for Mars? Kasie's third snap showed the toddler smiling at his little sister as she lay in her bed, alongside the note, "Your big brother could not be more proud.
